Inaugural Celebrate America Tablescape Exhibit Success!

SCC decided to celebrate America’s 250 th birthday with tablescapes exhibiting iconic

Americana at the War Memorial Building from June 29 through July 4 th . We had no idea

how the concept would be received but were pleasantly surprised to see how popular

the idea was. All of the exhibit tables were unique and beautifully done. From Wild West

to American Picnic, we had tables showing the unique one room schoolhouse complete

with weathervane and antique lunch boxes. We had a nod to the France’s contribution

to our revolution’s success and a marvelous display of founding fathers and our revered

Declaration of independence and Constitution. We had a table highlighting American

Artists, and a fascinating puzzle table called “Piecing the States Together”. We even

had a little girl’s take on a Frontier Christmas. For local connections we had a replica of

the James Rumsey Steam Engine complete with steam (!) and one remembering the

Bee Line March. We had one giving a nod to iconic American suburbia and one table

memorializing the completion of the railroad to Utah.

Each table was so unique and well done our visitors marveled at the variety and

imagination of each creator/team. Each and every contributor did the SCC proud and

we are so grateful for all of them.

But when all was said and done the winner was the table named “Remember the

Ladies”, a tribute to Woman’s’ Suffrage movement which was created and assembled

by Sandra Bloom and Emily Morgan.

The event was so well received, plans are underway for next year so stay tuned!!
