Bee City at Morgan’s Grove

Shepherdstown Bee City is a nonprofit organization that is committed to educating the community about native pollinator habitat conservation and reducing pesticide usage. The public pollinator garden at Morgan’s Grove Park is one of their many public demonstration sites around Jefferson County. The site at Morgan’s Grove is intended to be a teaching space so visitors to the garden can learn more about native plants and envision how they might make positive changes to their own properties to help conserve native pollinators. Work began at the site in spring of 2025 with invasive species removal. In the fall of 2025, some native plant species were planted. The site was awarded The Monarch Alliance Grant in 2026 which is a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society and will become a designated Monarch Waystation. The 400 native plants from this grant will be planted in May of 2026, along with other native plant donations and related habitat improvements.
