Holiday Cookie Exchange

RSVP by Dec 10 using our Google form found HERE

Bring 3 dozen of one homemade cookie (1 recipe). If you love minis, bring 4–5 dozen bite-size.

Bring your recipe to share.

Please package your cookies in groups of 4-8 depending on size/quantity. We will do a round of regular swapping (1 of each) and then free pick after that.

Bring 6–8 extra for the tasting table; the rest stay may stay wrapped up for swapping! We will be voting during the tasting.

Bring an empty tin or lidded box to take your assortment home.

Prizes for the following categories: Best Traditional, Most Festive, Most Unique Flavor, Kid’s Choice

Unclaimed cookies go to volunteers/first responders.

Warm up by the fire with a s’mores station and hot beverages for sale, with all proceeds benefiting Morgan’s Grove Park and the Shepherdstown Community Club.

Bundle up and bring a friend and let the glow of lanterns light your path.

Step into an afternoon of magic and fun at our Enchanted Tea Costume Party! Come dressed in your favorite costume and enjoy a whimsical celebration filled with games, dancing, tea, and sweet treats.

This family-friendly event is open to all ages — from little ones to grown-ups who love a good costume! Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Legendary Book Sale

The SCC will be sponsoring our annual book sale at the War Memorial Building. It is bigger annnd better than ever!
The Sale starts with The Preview Reception on Thursday October 9th from 6-8pm with a $20 admission; SCC members get your first book free! The Preview reception is a chance to purchase books before we open it up to the public. 2 floors of books! No entry fees for the remainder of the sale.

It continues Friday October 10th through October 18th AND Sunday October 19th is deep discount at $5/a box!!

Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00-6:00 p.m.; Saturday/Sunday, 10:00-4:00 p.m.
All proceeds from the sale go to the maintenance of The War Memorial Building and Morgan’s Grove Park.
Our Fall booksale offers tons of books from History to Science to DYI books. There is even a children’s section, so everyone finds a great book. Teachers- free children's books with ID!

Annual Labor Day Picnic and Boot Sale

Join us for the Annual Labor Day Picnic and Boot Sale!

What is a boot sale? It is a yard sale from the boot (trunk) of your car! (You are welcome to set up a table in front of your vehicle though.) Spaces are $10 each and go to help SCC care for the park and the War Memorial Building.

Boot Sale is from 10:00-2:00; Picnic is Noon to 3:00 pm. SCC will be serving up concessions (hamburgers, hot dogs, impossible burgers as well as homemade sides and desserts!). There will be live music and kids activities, too!!

View the summer night sky through the telescopes of the TriState Astronomers.

We will have at least one "smart telescope" setup with views displayed on a TSA computer tablet or on guest's personal smart phones (app download required). This is great for guests with physical limitations that have difficulty standing or viewing through a telescope eyepiece.

Beeline March 250th Anniversary

Come be a part of living history! This free, family-friendly event honors the 250th anniversary of the Bee Line March, which began right here at the park. The day will include:

Music by the WVU Mountaineer Fifes and Drums

Military drills and rifle demonstrations by the Sons of the American Revolution

A display from the 201st Field Artillery Regiment, the oldest continually active regiment in the U.S. Army

Interactive history booths, 18th-century games for children, and more

A special 10:30 AM community march to Elmwood Cemetery, followed by an 11:00 AM wreath-laying

A 2:00 PM commemorative ceremony with distinguished speakers

Food trucks offering BBQ, soft drinks, and ice cream

Youth Art Exhibit!

"Our Power, Our Planet"

Gather your recyclables and create something amazing! Bring your artwork to be displayed at the War Memorial Building, where the community will vote on their favorites.

Artwork will be on display all day Sunday, April 27th for public viewing.

Eligibility Criteria: Open to Preschool through 12th grade students. Must include at least 50% recycled materials.

Artwork should be family-friendly. All media are welcome.

Intro to Food Preservation at Home

Join Jefferson G.A.P. Coalition on Wednesday, March 19 at 6:00 pm at the War Memorial Building for an introduction to home food preservation. Learn the basics and science of home food preservation so you will be prepared to preserve your harvest or all the wonderful foods you purchase at local farmers markets this year. We will discuss various methods of home food preservation (water bath canning, pressure canning, fermentation, freezing, and dehydration). Show and tell will involve canning equipment, fermentation equipment, best books for home food reservation, and a quick demo of assembling products for the canner. There will be ample time for questions and answers. Participants will receive a bibliography of preservation books and a recipe with detailed instructions for fermented dill pickles via email.
