The Legendary Book Sale: Our

Best One Yet!

What a sale! The 2026 Legendary Book Sale was our best one yet, and we have our amazing community to thank for it. From the first boxes of books arriving to the very last books being packed away, this sale took a lot of hands, a lot of lifting, a lot of sorting, and more than a few trips up and down the stairs.

And our volunteers showed up for all of it.

A huge thank-you goes to everyone who donated books, helped sort and organize, set up the War Memorial Building, worked the sale, helped customers, kept things moving, and came back to pack everything up when it was all over. We had volunteers from the Shepherdstown community, SCC members, local organizations, students, and friends who simply wanted to help. We could not have done it without you.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who came through the doors and bought a book (or several dozen), filled a basket, stopped by more than once, or simply spread the word. Your support made this year's sale our most successful yet. The Legendary Book Sale is one of SCC's biggest fundraisers, helping support the War Memorial Building and Morgan's Grove Park and the many events and programs SCC provides throughout the year. We're already thinking about next year's sale. Keep an eye out for book drop dates in 2027. With your help, we're hoping to make the next Legendary Book Sale even bigger. Until then, thank you, Shepherdstown, for making this year's sale one to remember. To every volunteer who gave their time, energy, muscles, and probably a little bit of their sanity: we appreciate you!
