A Shepherdstown Tradition That Gives Back

For generations, the Shepherdstown Community Club’s Legendary Book Sale has brought together book lovers, bargain hunters, families, teachers, and collectors from near and far. What began as a community book sale has grown into the Shepherdstown Community Club’s largest annual fundraiser—and one of our most anticipated events of the year.

Each fall, the War Memorial Building is transformed into a book lover’s paradise, with two floors filled with thousands of gently used books. Volunteers spend weeks collecting, sorting, organizing, and preparing the books so shoppers can browse an incredible variety of titles and categories.

Whether you’re looking for a classic novel, a cookbook, a history book, something for the kids, a DIY project, or an unexpected treasure, there’s always something new to discover.

More Than a Book Sale

The Legendary Book Sale is also an important part of how the Shepherdstown Community Club supports our community.

Every dollar raised goes toward the maintenance and care of the War Memorial Building and Morgan’s Grove Park. Your purchase helps us continue caring for these community spaces and keeping them available for residents, organizations, and visitors throughout the year.

So when you leave the sale with a stack of books, you’re not just getting a great bargain—you’re helping preserve two places that are an important part of Shepherdstown.
