The Back Alley Tour & Tea is a self-guided walking tour featuring some of Shepherdstown’s most beautiful gardens. Wander through the town’s charming back alleys, discover fresh garden inspiration, learn a bit of local history, and enjoy exploring the neighborhood at your own pace.
When you’re ready for a break—or after completing the tour—return to the War Memorial Building for an unforgettable afternoon tea. Relax and reflect on your favorite gardens while enjoying hot or iced tea served in unique teacups and saucers, along with a delightful selection of homemade sweet and savory treats prepared by our talented local bakers. After tea, you’re welcome to revisit your favorite gardens or spend time strolling through Shepherdstown’s shops.
